Speeding Up Airport Security Checkpoints

Finally the airline industry is starting to realize that putting every single person through stringent security checks throught the world is a waste of time.  With consumers complaining about having to disrobe at check points and some being poked and prodded in ways that are considered less than appropriate in private and are very simply downright embarrassing in public the airlines have now begun expediting the process for those select individuals who are willing to undergo a background and finger print check in advance of their travel.

Already underway on a trial basis at several of the nation’s largest airports the Obama administration is attempting to put into effect a passenger prescreening program that will allow low risk individuals to become preapproved as safe and therefore will allow them to simply go through security checkpoints under the radar, so to speak.  Many feel that this is the best way to keep stringent security measures and yet still allow for some leniency along the way.

And these measures are a welcome change for those frequent travelers who have already signed up to be preapproved at the test airports.  One customer found that it was much easier than he anticipated to make it through the pre-approved security check point over a traditional one and that doing so shaved between 10-15 minutes off his wait time.  He also felt much less intimidation by airport security staff.

Airport Security Line

Of course, it is easy to understand why airport security staff are so leery of individual travelers.  If they were to simply believe that the average person did not pose a threat then they might open themselves up to being vulnverable.

Now with the new screening program in place it is obvious that many people will sign up for this in order to not only save them time when traveling but also to help reduce the embarrassment that extensive security measures can cause.  Those who are able to be pre-approved as posing no risk will be able to make it through security much faster and easier.  Hopefully this will help to keep security tight while still allowing some to pass through an airport more efficiently.
