New Brazilian CAA to focus on resolving airport infrastructure woes

Brazil is expected to fast-track private airport upgrade projects following the creation of a new civil aviation ministry. The Special Secretariat of Civil Aviation was formally created on 5-Apr by new Brazilian president Dilma Rousseff. Wagner Bittencourt assumed this week the position of secretary for the new civil aviation department, which will oversee Brazil’s existing civil aviation agency ANAC and government-owned airport operator Infraero. Bittencourt was previously a director at Brazilian development bank BNDES.
