Latin America was the only aviation market in the world that maintained profitability throughout the global financial crisis, with a profit result of USD500 million in 2009, according to IATA. This profitability is expected to continue, with a forecast profit of USD1 billion this year, followed by a USD600 million profit in 2011, reflecting an overall weakening of industry profitability.
