World airline traffic back above pre-recession levels, but Europe still weakest

IATA reported that demand rebounded “strongly” in May-2010, following the impact of the European “volcanic ash fiasco” in Apr-2010. Director General and CEO, Giovanni Bisignani, commented that "passenger traffic is now 1% above pre-recession levels, while the freight market is 6% bigger. However, the situation in Europe, both in terms of traffic and financial recovery, remains weak.
