IATA sees May traffic rebound, slams unions for European unrest

The International Air Transport Association (IATA) stated that early indications for May-2010 show a rebound in international travel after the ash-related disruption in and around Europe last month. Director General & CEO, Giovanni Bisignani stated the ash crisis was a shock and there is a danger of renewed volcanic eruptions, but the impact on passenger confidence should be limited. He added, “unfortunately, we are trading ash for two additional uncertainties - strikes and a growing currency crisis - both of which are also focused on Europe”.
